Heather offers men and women a variety of traditional massage services such as Swedish, deep tissue, injury treatment, and sport massage.  She specializes in pre/post natal massage.

Massage is defined as a treatment that involves rubbing or kneading the muscles, either for medical or therapeutic purposes or simply as an aid to relaxation.  The basic goal of massage therapy is to help the body heal itself and to increase health and well-being.  Pregnancy massage is a very specific practice.

From the moment of conception until the delivery of the baby, this specially adapted massage will help mother and unborn child prepare emotionally and physically for the birth.  Many hormonal changes are taking place throughout this time and you will most probably be suffering from the changes affecting your body.  Posture is especially important as your child continues to grow as your body naturally adjusts.  Maintaining good posture is essential to avoid unnecessary symptoms such as backache as well as helping with your own and unborn child's well-being.  Safe for both mom and baby, research shows that massage promotes healthier moms, shorter and less traumatic labors and healthier babies. Women who receive regular massage have measurably reduced levels of stress hormones and report less mood swings and physical discomforts. Regular massages during pregnancy can also shorten labor time and make the return of your optimal fitness easier.  During labor, massage is an effective pain relief tool. Incidentally, doctors all agree that a relaxed mother will have a happier, healthier pregnancy and possibly an easier childbirth experience, too.

Benefits of Pregnancy Massage:

·        Improved well-being

·        Increased emotional balance

·        Reduced pain and discomfort throughout pregnancy and labor

·        Improved positive feelings

·        Increased oxygen and blood flow for the baby

·        Reduced levels of stress and tension

Massage can be used during the birth to make it easier and more comfortable for mom, and after the birth to help her regain her strength more quickly and ease postpartum stress.  Postpartum massage specifically helps women recover from pregnancy, labor and birth, as well as adjust to new aches and pains and an often very stressful time.
