Does electrolysis remove hair permanently?
Yes. Electrolysis eliminates the hair root so it will not grow back. To date, electrolysis is the only proven method of removing hair permanently.
Can hair be removed from anywhere on the body?
Unwanted hair can be safely removed from most body areas. The most common areas include the hairline, bridge of nose, eyebrows, upper and lower lip, cheeks, sideburns, chin, neck, shoulders, arms and underarms, hands, chest, breasts, abdomen, bikini line, legs, toes, and back.
How many treatments are necessary?
There are so many variables to consider when estimating the amount of time you may need for electrolysis. The variables include the amount of hair, the hair characteristics, the area of treatment, your tolerance, and the frequency & length of the sessions just to name a few. It is very challenging to answer this question without knowing these variables. We all have differing amounts of hair based on our ethnicity, age, etc. We also have different tolerances; some may fall asleep while we are working on them and others are more sensitive to treatment. Based on your tolerance, we may be able to use a high setting that results in a more efficient session or a low setting that results in a slower progressing session. By scheduling a free consultation, we can assess these variables and provide an estimate as to how long it will take to remove your hair. Remember, electrolysis is not the quickest form of hair removal but it is the most effective form of permanent hair removal.
How does electrolysis work?
The electrologist inserts a tiny metal probe into the hair follicle next to the hair. A small amount of electrical current is applied through the probe to completely eliminate the hair root. When a skilled, properly trained electrologist performs this procedure, there is no damage to the surrounding tissue.
Does electrolysis hurt?
Most people say the sensation is similar to that of tweezing. Individuals vary. Some may notice mild discomfort (particularly on certain sensitive parts of the body) and others may even nap during electrolysis. The state-of-the-art equipment we use at Be A New Creation Spa has greatly improved the procedure. Not only has the equipment made electrolysis more permanent, it has also made electrolysis more comfortable. We have various methods available to help with pain management, including various topical anesthetic creams, anesthetic locals and nerve blocks (administered by a doctor or dentist).
Is electrolysis only for women?
No, electrolysis is for everyone. Men also have superfluous hair (ears, eyebrows, bridge of the nose, beard, neck, shoulders, chest, back, etc.) that may cause feelings of embarrassment. Whether hair removal is for thinning out the hair or for completely removing it in chosen areas, the client's preferences guide treatment strategy.
Is electrolysis effective on people with dark skin?
Yes, electrolysis is effective on all skin and hair types. No other hair removal solution can claim such universal acceptability and success.
Is this facility TG friendly?
Absolutely, everyone is welcome here; read our testimonial page.
Is electrolysis safe?
Electrolysis is perfectly safe when performed by a qualified electrologist. Be A New Creation Spa follows Infection Control Standards for the Practice of Electrology, recommended by the Centers for Disease Control, and use pre-sterilized disposable needles. Our technicians always wear gloves.
Why not bleach, tweeze, shave, wax, or use depilatories?
You can, of course. Most people choose electrolysis because it is permanent and they do not want to be bothered with the continued expense and/or time required by temporary methods. They also want clear skin, unblemished by nicks, scrapes, ingrown hairs, new hair growth, and/or wiry or bleached hair.
What about hair removal using laser?
Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation, or laser, has not yet proven itself as a means of permanent hair removal, however, it is a means of permanent hair reduction. There are several laser companies vying for the hair removal market. Each of them has FDA 510(k) approval but this is only for marketing purposes, not permanency. They have all been prohibited from using the phrase "permanent hair removal" by the FDA.
Why do most people seek electrolysis?
Most people seek electrolysis as a part of a thorough personal grooming program for social and psychological self-confidence and for image building. Some people choose electrolysis when unwanted hair appears because of the influence of hormones during puberty, pregnancy, or menopause. Unwanted hair can also appear related to illness or a reaction to medications. Removal of hair under these circumstances helps preserve a person's normal appearance.
How do I know if an electrologist is qualified?
It is extremely important to evaluate the professional credentials of an electrologist. Check to see if and where professional training has been completed. Look for certification from the International Board of Electrologist Certification/American Electrology Association; credentials will be prominently displayed. "CPE" will appear by the names of board-certified electrologists.
